Hello! I'm Shakera. I am a dual-certified psychiatric and family practice nurse practitioner. As a psychiatric nurse practitioner, I diagnose and treat mental health conditions with medications, psychotherapy, supplements, and lifestyle changes. If you do not know, a psychiatric nurse practitioner's role is similar to a psychiatrist; however, we provide more holistic-centered care in addition to medical treatment. In addition to being a certified psychiatric nurse practitioner, I am also a family practitioner nurse practitioner, so I also treat medical conditions. Psychiatry is a diagnosis of exclusion, and my experience as a medical provider helps to rule out and assess underlying medical conditions. Please remember that diagnosis does not define you; it helps us to determine a plan together.
